Contractors have begun earthworks on the 25-kilometre Kakamega Airstrip-Shinyalu-Chepsonoi road, following its official launch in October 2025, to prepare for full tarmacking.

Contractors have started earthworks on the Kakamega Airstrip-Shinyalu-Chepsonoi road in Shinyalu Constituency, Kakamega County. The move comes after months of anticipation since President William Ruto flagged off the project in late October 2025. The 25-kilometre stretch, classified as B12, is undergoing upgrading to bitumen standards under the Kenya National Highways Authority.
