The Gikambura Modern Market, launched in May 2024, will transform trade in Kiambu, accommodating over 340 traders in an ultra-modern facility featuring 100 shops, a cold room, and an ICT hub.

Construction of the Gikambura Modern Market officially commenced in May 2024, marking a significant milestone in infrastructural development aimed at transforming local commerce within Kiambu County. Located in a region renowned for its crop farming and robust dairy production, the new market facility is strategically positioned to become a vital hub for agro-based trade and critical value addition.

The expansive market complex features an impressive array of amenities tailored for both traders and customers. Key facilities include 100 dedicated shops and 208 stalls, a social hall and meeting rooms, administrative offices, a modern ICT hub, a dedicated cold room and butchery, alongside a food court and kitchen. The design also incorporates a crèche, a barbershop, a salon, and necessary enforcement and power rooms, ensuring operational efficiency and community convenience.

For customer convenience, the design includes ample parking and a designated children's play area, ensuring the market becomes a destination that is accessible and appealing for families.
