The State Department for Housing and Urban Development has completed a four-storey dormitory at Alliance High School in Kiambu County. The project, delivered under the Institutional Housing component of the Affordable Housing Programme, is designed to expand the school's residential capacity in preparation for the upcoming transition of the Competency-Based Education curriculum to the Senior School level this January.
The new facility provides accommodation for 640 students. The architectural layout consists of 40 cubicles on each floor, with each of the four levels housing 160 learners. The project focus remained on creating structured and secure living spaces to support student welfare and manage the anticipated increase in enrolment driven by the new educational framework.
The completion of this residential block follows the delivery of other infrastructure at the institution intended to address the pressure of growing student numbers. By providing modern boarding facilities, the department aims to ensure the school can host learners in a safe and orderly environment as academic requirements and programmatic demands evolve.
Formal handover of the dormitory to the Ministry of Education is expected to take place shortly. This step is intended to facilitate the integration of the building into the school’s daily operations. The delivery of the project aligns with the broader mandate of the Ministry of Interior and National Administration to coordinate government service delivery and safeguard infrastructure within public institutions.
