The Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) is nearing the completion of civil works on the Rumwe–Skyline Crescent Road in Kikuyu Constituency. Contractors are currently executing final site installations, including side drainage systems, pedestrian footpaths, and designated road furniture along the route corridor.
The civil project involves upgrading the suburban alignment to bitumen standards. Local residents in the area previously depended on an all-weather road connection for their daily transport needs.
Government officials state that the infrastructure project aligns with national policy goals intended to ensure equitable development across all geographic regions. Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo highlighted the progress, noting that public infrastructure serves all commuters without discrimination.
The upgraded segment operates as a vital suburban connector within Kikuyu. Transport planners expect the tarmac surface to ease vehicular traffic flow, enhance regional accessibility, and strengthen links between residential areas, local commercial enterprises, and essential public facilities.
KeRRA oversees the management, development, and maintenance of the rural road network in Kenya. The agency continues to implement similar upgrading programs across various sub-counties to improve rural connectivity and integrate localized transport routes into the primary network.
The project execution comes as the national government maintains focus on expanding paved road coverage in suburban and rural hinterlands. Local road users are expected to transition to full usage of the modernized corridor once final inspections and official handover procedures are finalized by site engineers.
