The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) board leadership is reinforced with the re-appointment of Ms. Winfrida Ngumi as Non-Executive Chairperson and Ms. Gloria Sarah Awinja as a Board Member. The appointments, announced by President William Ruto and CS Davis Chirchir, respectively, provide essential continuity and experienced governance for the oversight of Kenya's critical national road network projects, affirming the government's focus on stable infrastructure development.

KeNHA, the Kenya National Highways Authority, is set to continue its high-impact work on the nation's road network with the re-appointment of key members to its Board of Directors.

This move underscores the government's commitment to maintaining experienced leadership within the institutions critical to national infrastructure and the construction sector at large.

President William Samoei Ruto, exercising the powers conferred by the Kenya Roads Act, has renewed the appointment of Ms. Winfrida Ngumi as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors.

This re-appointment signifies confidence in her leadership and is set to provide vital continuity in the strategic direction of the authority as it oversees multi-billion-shilling highway projects.

Ms. Ngumi is a distinguished business leader with a strong background in the building and construction sector, having accrued over two decades of experience and being a corporate member of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA).

Her expertise is expected to remain instrumental in guiding KeNHA’s governance, financial oversight, and major decision-making processes, which directly impact the pace and quality of road development in Kenya.

Further strengthening the board, the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, Davis Chirchir, has also re-appointed Ms. Gloria Sarah Awinja as a Member of the Board of Directors.

Ms Awinja's re-appointment, alongside other renewals across the transport sector, ensures that KeNHA retains institutional memory and a steady hand in executing its mandate of managing, developing, rehabilitating, and maintaining national trunk roads.

The Authority is responsible for some of the country's most ambitious and economically significant projects, including the Nairobi Expressway, the ongoing development of the Nairobi-Nakuru-Mau Summit Highway, and numerous other road network expansion and maintenance initiatives designed to improve connectivity and facilitate trade.

The continuity provided by Ms. Ngumi and Ms. Awinja will be crucial in overseeing the implementation of KeNHA’s strategic plan, which emphasizes the use of innovative technologies, sustainable construction methods, and transparent governance.

By solidifying its board, KeNHA is poised to continue its mission of delivering "Quality Highways, Better Connections," which is fundamental to Kenya's short-term recovery and long-term developmental goals.
