Remarkable momentum is driving the Meru Affordable Housing Projects in Imenti North Constituency, Meru County, as Phase I and Phase II progress side by side. The pace of construction on Phase II has been particularly impressive. Having commenced in July 2024, this phase is already 50% complete, a testament to the efficient planning and execution by the teams on the ground.

The Phase II project will introduce a modern residential block featuring 100 housing units. This block offers a thoughtful mix of apartment sizes designed to cater to a diverse range of family sizes and income brackets within the community. The available units include 30 two-bedroom apartments, 30 three-bedroom units, 10 three-room units, and 30 studio apartments. This variety ensures that the housing development is inclusive and accessible to many people seeking quality, affordable accommodation.

Beyond the brick and mortar, the project is providing a considerable boost to the local economy. The development has currently engaged 40 workers on site, with the majority of these workers drawn directly from the local community. This focus on local employment means that families are earning steady incomes that provide stability and allow them to plan for the future.

Furthermore, the ripple effect of the construction is visible in the wider local economy. Small traders are finding opportunities to supply building materials, ensuring local businesses benefit from the investment. As a result, nearby markets are experiencing a welcome surge in activity, showcasing the project’s success not just as a housing endeavor but also as a powerful engine for socio-economic development. The completion of these phases promises to transform living standards for many Meru residents.
