Construction work at the Funyula Affordable Housing Project in Busia County has reached a 47 percent completion rate across its 10 residential blocks. The development is divided into distinct sections, with various blocks currently at different stages of the build process.

In Lot 1, which contains the affordable housing units, structural work is now finished for all five blocks. Interior and exterior finishing is underway, with walling at 60 percent and plastering reaching 35 percent. Installation of windows has moved to 20 percent, while door fitting stands at 10 percent. Contractors have also commenced skimming and painting within specific sections of the A series blocks.

Work on the B series blocks is also advancing, with slab casting and structural components reaching the 80 percent mark. Walling for these units is currently at 10 percent. On-site activity includes the fabrication of windows, block making, and the installation of timber door frames to support the next phase of construction.

The project currently provides employment for 235 workers, a figure that includes 10 women from the local community. The site remains active with a mix of skilled and semi-skilled labor as the government continues to move toward its housing delivery targets in the Western region.
