Interior Ministry announces completion of the 220-unit development in Eldoret, with final landscaping works now underway for incoming tenants.

The national government has finished building the Kapsuswa/Kidiwa Affordable Housing Project in Soy Constituency, Eldoret City.

State officials announced that the project, which consists of multiple apartment blocks, is now waiting for official commissioning.

Internal Security Principal Secretary (PS) Raymond Omollo confirmed that the final landscaping, including grass planting, is underway.

The completion follows the laying of the foundation stone by President William Ruto in January 2024.

Built under the State Department for Housing and Urban Development (SDHUD), the estate contains 220 housing units.

These housing units are distributed across nine residential blocks built on a 3.2-acre parcel of land.

Contractors designed the development to include integrated commercial spaces to support local businesses within the residential area.

Residents will also have access to a social hall, children's play areas, and a community tree nursery.

The site has modern supporting infrastructure, including solar-lit walkways, paved access routes, dedicated boreholes, and backup power.

National officials planned the layout to maximize land use and prevent horizontal sprawl in the expanding city.

The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration (SDISNA) has coordinated with local administrators during construction.

Omollo stated that this coordination helps maintain a secure and conducive environment for investments and community well-being.

The Kapsuswa project is part of the national government's wider Affordable Housing Programme (AHP) designed for urban zones.

Under this program, the government seeks to provide decent and low-cost housing options for citizens across Kenya.

The Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development (MLPWHUD) oversaw the execution of the contract.

The contract for the construction of these housing units and associated infrastructure was awarded under tender MLPWHUD/SDDHLHD/AHP/168/2022-2023.

Local masonry artisans and suppliers within Uasin Gishu County secured employment and material supply deals during building works.

This local labor integration remains a core requirement for all projects under the nationwide housing program.

Potential buyers can now register and view unit prices through the official Boma Yangu (BY) online portal.

The portal lists different unit typologies, which include studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom apartments.

According to government guidelines, applicants must be Kenyan citizens over eighteen years old with valid national identities.

Eligible buyers are required to save a minimum deposit of five percent of the total unit value.

The allocation process will prioritize registered local applicants who have met the statutory savings requirements.

Registered users can also use the portal to save money toward their desired houses.

The completed project will help ease the pressure on informal settlements around the rapidly growing Soy Constituency.

The surrounding area is projected to experience commercial growth as new residential zones attract retail shops.

The newly built access roads are expected to open up transport connectivity for the incoming residents.

Municipal integration of utilities like water and electricity is currently being finalized ahead of the official commissioning.

Local leaders have welcomed the development, noting that it aligns with long-term urban planning goals.

The estate provides a modern, secure, and sustainable living environment for families relocating to the area.

The completion of this housing scheme is expected to act as a benchmark for future projects.

This housing development aims to address the high demand for safe and quality housing in the region.

Officials remain optimistic about the timely hanover of the estate to the successfully registered beneficiaries.
